What is the future of innovation and can anyone predict it? May be, but not me. So here within is my case mod project, which revolves around several small diorama scenes of a research facility focusing on exploring innovations of the future. ...learn more

Overview

I've chosen to explore the theme of "future of innovation" through a series of diorama scenes that I feel have (some relevance) to the future of tomorrow. They are supposed to capture a snapshot of a research facility. I thought a research orientated theme would be fitting to the sponsor - Intel - considering how widespread their technology is, being used in a variety of industries as a means of providing sufficient computational power. Which is becoming ever more important as continue to develop models and designs using computers.

The PC components themselves will have a standard layout - as seen within the media. This layout was chosen in an attempt to maximise surface space for scenes. Due to this there is for 4 scenes.

Scene 1: Explores a particularly pressing issue - climate change. It'll be located on the shroud of the case, making use of the large flat surface. I hope to place a fan within the shroud (using space already present) to mimic a device that would be sucking in carbon dioxide. The rest of the shroud will represent the earth where barrels of CO2 are stored. Thanks to the use of the M.2 SSD, the HDD bay will be free for me to use as the storage site.

Scene 2: Presents a trip down memory lane. An asteroid strikes, but thanks to modern technology, it merely hits the case surface causing a fire within - and not the extinction of man kind. This scene will be located both within and outside the case. Within is the fire, whilst outside the asteroid.

Scene 3: The future of agriculture, representing the use of technology as a means of improving our agriculture yields - something that will become very important as the Earth's population gets higher and higher. This scene sits on the upper surface of the case, exposed to the elements. I have therefore chosen to use the flat, hard case cover.

Scene 4: Is supposed to represent the future of healthcare, whereby a bioreactor is being used to grow pharmaceuticals. It will be located in the empty space between the face panels of the case and the motherboard.

The backside of the case, I hope to spray paint the Intel logo

Methodology / Approach

Methodology / Approach

This would be my first proper PC build and case mod.

· I hope to use metal cutters to make a cutout for scenes 1's CO2 storage

· Glue/epoxy for the cracking effects on the tempered glass panel

· Cotton balls alongside LED candles for the flames of scene 2

· I hope to make use of the display of the heat sink, playing a Gif of the Intel logo

· LED strips will be connected to the motherboard, utilising the mystic light function. I hope to set the system such that as the temperature rises the colour changes from white to red

· Spray paint will be used for the logo on the back surface

· Modelling clay will be used for characters and certain equipment

· A water-cooling reservoir will be used to represent the bioreactor of scene 4

Technologies Used

Technologies

I hope to use:

· PSU: Seasonic FOCUS PX-850 Power Supply

· SSD: SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD

· GPU: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 Video Card (for its LED lighting)

· Heatsink: MSI MEG CORELIQUID S360

· MOBO: MPG Z690 Carbon WIFI

· CPU: Intel Core i9 12900K
