Description

The mobile packet core is all set to evolve in the future mobile standards (5G and beyond), given the tremendous pressure on it due to growing user demands. In this project, we seek to explore various design options of the future mobile packet core. To this end, we have built two open-source versions of the LTE EPC (Long Term Evolution Evolved Packet Core), one based on the principles of NFV and the other based on the ideas of SDN. We are using our code to compare the benefits of these two paradigms for future packet core designs. By releasing our code, we hope to enable other researchers to extend it and evaluate their own packet core designs.
