Overview / Usage

The design is a V-TOL (Vertical Takeoff and landing) and requires only a few meters of area to take off and land which is crucial for emergency scenarios. This craft has on-board computing accompanied by a companion computer for advanced applications with Artificial Intelligence on Intel Architecture.

Since this craft is custom-built, we've used cutting-edge technology and experiences for advanced applications across various industries. We have put relentless focus on shaping this innovation with depth sensing camera and Intel Movidius to incorporate technology in simple ways to solve complex problems of the real world.

This craft is capable for advanced applications such as:

  1. High-tech aid for defense and medical industry
  2. Responding to disaster - a rescue provision in case of natural calamities
  3. Advanced Object Recognition for precise takeoff and landing
  4. Remote self-destruction when needed (to be implemented)

Methodology / Approach

As the pace of technology progress accelerates, we’re entering into Fourth Industrial Revolution that will require next gen of innovators to build on latest tech solving local challenges. Hence this project has put an immense focus on leading with innovation, amplifying Intel influence and leaving a legacy.

Building from scratch:
This craft is an indigenous craft that was built from scratch. There was a lot of action-packed tasks to come up with the custom design such as - ideating, design thinking, interaction with key stakeholders, building POCs and doing test flights.

Innovation Journey:
The progress was made across 4 phases driving awareness and adoption of Intel Architecture:
Phase 1: Building Ecosystem
Phase 2: Create Impact
Phase 3: Scale and Sustain
Phase 4: Leave a Legacy

Accelerating Innovation with Collaborations and Partnerships:
With the aim to solve local challenges, we collaborated with Ministry of Defense and local maker communities to enlist the problems and approach towards the common solution with the best possible future for everyone. We also presented this project in first ever Drone Olympics at Aero India 2019, Bangalore.

Strategic Wins:
Participation in Drone Olympics brought Intel many strategic wins, contributing to Intel's growth and impact. A few examples are:

  • Intel is highlighted as key technology partner for our ingenious UAV
  • Intel AI Offerings being showcased at National level
  • News Channel and Social Media coverage

Focus on Shaping the Future:
Discovering the hidden capabilities of latest Intel Architecture and other leading technologies, this project intends to do the following in upcoming weeks:

  • Established first ever Drone Community in Bangalore (scaling to multiple cities in India through 2019)
  • Leading through partnership and collaboration with Ministry of Defense and Transportation
  • Intel having primary seat on the table for Drone Communities
  • Leverage Intel Aero Platform to build further solutions aimed at solving local challenges of India
