Overview / Usage

Osdro is an multi-purpose smart drone that performs various indoor tasks:
Indoor Surveillance and Camera - Using Intel's RealSense Cameras, Intel-Based Processors, and multiple flight iterations to/from its base station, the drone is planned to reconstruct the immediate indoor environment in 3D to then be used for real-time mapping and 3rd-party virtual reality applications. Additionally, the RealSense camera is used for obstacle avoidance and gesture/facial detection/tracking.

Companionship - Similar to Amazon Alexa, the drone will have speech recognition and synthesis for simple human interactions and command registration and execution (i.e. "follow me" lets the drone follow a person's face). Although RealSense offers speech synthesis, the current implementation uses Amazon Voice Services. Additionally, the drone will have various features such as lights to turn on when asked.

IoT Hub/Control Center - Similar to Amazon Echo, the drone shall attempt to control various registered IoT devices, if and when commanded to. The software and onboarding process is still being developed.
