The future of side panels, for those who want it. PC enthusiasts want to see their hardware, but glass side panels are too common to be cool, and smash easily. The solution is painting. ...learn more

Overview / Usage
I wanted to create something that I could successfully make, as someone brand new to the area of case modding/decorating, but still celebrates PCs and their components. It's hard to show off your CPU in a regular build, as it's hidden by its cooler, and with Alder Lake out now with the hybrid core design, it is again the most innovative part of the computer. Clear side panels can show off a graphics card, but painting the rear side can show off the CPU as well, by painting it in a cutaway design onto the panel, emphasising the power that these new chips pack.
This is mostly an experimental concept for myself as a PC enthusiast and novice artist, but I would love to see this idea catch on, and have a new way of decorating a PC, rather than just RGB everywhere.
Methodology / Approach
Initial designs are handdrawn sketches, with the plan being to make a more detailed sketch using the parts as reference, then use that to guide the painting. Hand-drawing is important as the final product will be done in the same way, to add a personal touch, rather than just printing a picture and sticking it on the panels.
The main focus is opaque panels, where the side normally used to hide cable mess becomes the focus of the build, but the idea can easily be extended to paint on glass side panels for a different, yet still interesting, effect. .
