Overview / Usage

The reference design is based on Cooler-master 130 elite compactness and open case cooling advantages.

The goal is to have as few failure parts as possible over 10 years and improve reliability under heavy sustained loads.

The mechanical stress on the motherboard and video card is reduced by repositioning the components. No redesign of the motherboard is necessary.

Greatly inspired by open cases design with the added functionality of not having dust inside the case.

In the last 20 years the PC case design remained the same, since the horizontal cases evolved into towers to accommodate more components, which over the last 10 years became also bigger heavier and hotter. There is a natural need to re-design the tower to accommodate this perspective by decreasing internal case temperatures by moving radiators at the edge of the case.

An efficient design that I wish could be the standard for the future to come case designs.

Methodology / Approach

By repositioning the motherboard horizontally to ease the GPU and CPU radiator weight stress on it and repositioning them with the radiator outside the casing, as it is easier to vent the heat directly to the room rather than to design good airflow cases.

The right side will be the CPU radiator, usually, a water-cooled one but preferably a standard one with 3 fans pushing the air outside of the case. The radiator is also the right panel of the case, the semi-open cube may be the future.

On top, a mesh grille to vent the rest of the heat from the GPU backplate, RAM and CPU pipeline.

Technologies Used

If no water cooler is used, a custom CPU radiator will have to be developed.

The case also needs a redesign to keep the 2 radiators on the sides, outside.

Functionality and effectiveness is the primary focus. Efficiency and aesthetics can follow.
