Overview / Usage

Technology and knowledge of robotics have entered into study programs in schools. But the price of robot components is still a problem for the students. This makes students only able to learn and try simple robot technology, as they cannot afford to try with more complex ones for economic reasons. To that end, a quality educational robot product at an affordable price is needed.

This educational robot is in the form of complete KIT, where students must assemble first. Micro controller included in the KIT is already filled with the program, so that upon assembled, the robot can already be operated directly. Furthermore students can modify the existing programs therein to generate new functions, or combine with other sensors or systems according to their own creativity.

The ANIMATRONIC HANDROBOT KIT presented at the SXSW (South by South West) 2018 in Austin, Texas. It is hand robots with programmable or manually controlled fingers, using smartphone bluetooth.

Methodology / Approach

First I start study the linkage mechanics using LINKAGE Windows Apps to make sure there is no collision between moving parts. Then using Autodesk 123D to study and design in 3D models.
The models printed using 3D Printer to get three dimensional study and to improve and optimize design.
After that build prototyping by Laser Cutting using Acrylic Sheet material.
Its about 5 times for revision the design and component layout.
I design and develop Custom Control Shield using Fritzing Apps, print on Single Layer FR4 PCB.

Technologies Used

I'm using Arduino 101 for development process, and finally using Arduino Nano V3 on Custom Control Shield.
Embed Bluetooth Module HC-05 at back-side of PCB.
For Android Apps, developed using MIT-App Inventor.
