AR has already changed the way individuals view the world. In this project, we have designed a system where remote files and directories are augmented in real-time over the camera view of the smartphone, tablet or PC. The users can access the remote file system and perform operations using gestures. This system provides a smooth and continuous interaction between the user and the digital space by only using hand gestures, without the use of any special purpose devices like a mouse or a joystick. ...learn more

Overview / Usage

Our approach involves the following steps.

  1. Remote access of the file system - Remote file systems enable an application that runs on a client computer to access files
stored on a different computer. Software on the client system provides remote file and resource access. Here, we are providing permission for one PC to have remote access control over another PC’s file system. This is achieved by using the RPC protocol given
that the two systems are connected over a network.
  2. 3D modelling of the file system -After establishing remote access of the file system, 3D objects are created to represent all
the files and directories of the remote system. These 3D models have been designed using UNITY as shown in Figure 1. In addition to this, icons – ‘home and backward’ have been added for navigation purposes and ‘copy and delete’ icons for performing the respective operations.

Technologies Used

We developed this Intel NUC VR Machine and now can be deployed with any compatible engine.
UNITY is the main tool used! Python is the programming platform.
