Intel® Arc™ Gaming Truck Makes its First Stop!

Intel® Arc™ Gaming Truck Makes its First Stop!

Perfect weather in Oregon plus big interest from Intel employees made the Intel® Arc™ Gaming truck’s first stop on August 23 a success! This dry run was to ensure everything worked as planned prior to the truck’s first public showing coming up September 2-5 at PAX West 2022 in Seattle. After months of planning and help from various individuals across Intel, the Arc Community Engagement team, who were the masterminds behind its creation, has seen their idea come to life: 30 gaming stations, featuring some of today’s most popular games, on wheels!

Thumbs up From Employees

With 200+ visitors, and very positive feedback, it seems like the Arc Community Engagement team thought of everything from choosing the right games, ensuring the AC worked, to making sure gamers had comfortable chairs.

People begin lining up before the doors officially opened at 10:30 AM, and from then on it was a steady stream of visitors until 6:00 PM. Once checked in employees entered the calm, almost Zen-like gaming café; soft lights and custom lighted keyboards complimentary to the Arc GPU color scheme made for a cool vibe; tournament-sized monitors and headsets ensured visitors could become totally immersed in games like Elden Ring, Dota 2, Grid Legends, The Riftbreaker, Redout 2, among others.

Motivation Behind the Truck

“The main idea behind the truck is to differentiate the Intel Arc GPUs as actually being a gamer-focused product. We built the Intel Arc truck so we could bring fun to the community,” said Eric Mantion, Intel Insider Community Engagement Manager. “We have 10-16 of today’s most popular games available so gamers can get a real-world experience on Intel’s first discrete graphic product in decades. In the second half of 2022, we plan to make stops in 10-12 locations across North America.”

The gaming truck is a fully functional gaming café that expands from a collapsed 54.5 feet long by 8.5 feet wide to 60 feet long by 22 feet wide. Each gaming station is powered by an Intel® NUC 12 Extreme with Intel® Core™ i9 12900 and Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics card, plus gaming keyboard, mouse and headset provided by SteelSeries, AGON PRO AG254FG Tournament Monitors provided by AOC, and comfy gamer chairs provided by Backforce, to support immersive gameplay.

“Bringing Arc to gamers was the motivation behind our vision” said Bob Duffy, Arc Community Engagement Manager. “Letting gamers experience the power of Arc in their own backyard, or at an industry event they plan to attend was a priority for us.”

Getting the truck on the road was a major undertaking and one more example of the Arc Community Engagement team delivering on their objectives -- bringing subject matter expertise, framework, programs, and services to activate a world-wide graphics community of technical enthusiasts, gamers and creators to demonstrate advocacy and support for Intel Arc.
