Overview / Usage

The blind stick is integrated with three ultrasonic sensor along with a water sensor and proximity sensor. Our proposed project first uses ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles ahead and to the left and right of the person using ultrasonic waves. On sensing any obstacle the sensor passes this data to the microcontroller. The microcontroller then processes this data and calculates if the obstacle is close enough. If the obstacle is not that close the circuit does nothing. If the obstacle is closer than 2 meters then the microcontroller sends a signal to sound a buzzer. It also detects and sounds a different buzzer if it detects water and alerts the blind. This is done with the help of the water sensor. One more feature is that it allows the blind to detect if there is pit ahead or some stairs going downwards. This is achieved with the help of the proximity sensor. The system has one more advanced feature integrated to help the blind send a distress SMS to his relative in case he is in trouble. A GSM module is used for this purpose. Pressing the push-button sends the SMS to the relative.
