The serendipitous collision of our dearest Engineer from Team Fortress 2 and his recent fondness of gaming has now come to a climax with the creation of the Engineer Gaming PC Build. This PC is built for both CAD to help him with his engineering, and gaming if he wants to play a quick match of MvM. ...learn more

Overview / Usage

Simply put, I use a lot of CAD programs and have always wanted to game on a PC more. I have a 3D printer and I design things to print pretty regularly. The current PC of mine is a laptop with 128GB of Storage, no graphics card, and an 8th gen CPU (the cpu used to be good like 5 years ago. Not Great. Often I'll be in the middle of designing something and oh no! my Fusion 360! its broken, and the only game I have enough room for having all my CAD programs and whatnot is Minecraft. Upgrades are definitely warranted.

I have had an interest in Team Fortress 2 (and the rest of Valve's library), yet I've never had a computer I could free enough space on to get both Steam and the games I want. In addition to this, I've wanted to delve into 3D design and rendering took very long on the laptop I had been using prior.

I thought about this prompt for a while, but then I thought about the whole "Engineer Gaming" meme from a while ago. Flavor adds depth to any project. This whole Engineer + Gaming idea fits well with what I want in my PC, so I developed the idea. All the little quotes after the technologies used are in character as the engineer. Imagine him with his guitar like in Meet the Engineer.

If you are unaware of this, heres a link to a video for the basic idea of the meme if you aren't aware. https://youtu.be/o\_V67j-6PmE

Technologies Used

[second choice]

-Intel Core i9-12900K - "_Hey look buddy, if I wanted to do something small, I wouldn'ta been born in Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas, including our CPU" _(I wasn't born in Texas btw. The Engineer was.)

  • MPG Z690 Carbon WiFi- "When I make my PC, I expect it to be like my dispensers, able to be put where I want them. WiFi was a must for me. Also, bottlenecking is for chumps"

-2x 16 - "Just enough memory to design all my machines and whatnot."

_-_GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING OC 8GB Video Card [ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Video Card] - "In this whole crypto-whatchamacallit, aint no graphics card cheap. This serves someone the need to seek themselves price to performance ratios, and the 3060 ti provides that ratio for what I need."

_-_Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 Fully Modular Power Supply- "Plenty of power for the load my here CPUs and GPUs will put upon this PC"

-Seagate BarraCuda 4TB Hard Drive - "I like myself a lot of storage. A little extra loading times never hurt anyone."

-Crucial P5 Plus M.2 500GB SSD [SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 500GB SSD] - "Of course, my OS and whatever else should be able to be put on speed dial"

_-_MasterLiquid ML360 Mirror ARGB Close-Loop AIO CPU Liquid Cooler - "Now now, I gotta keep my hardware running cool, or else my software wont be running at all"

_-_CORSAIR 7000D AIRFLOW Full-Tower ATX Case - "I like me a sleek, strong case. Gives me a somewhat devious feel for being a simple man."

-Cooler Master SK-653-GKTL1-US SK653 TTC Mechanical Wireless Keyboard - "When I type, I want it to make a click. I don't want much else in life than that and some bacon"

-Corsair Harpoon Wireless Mouse - "I like a little wiggle room with my keyboard and mouse. If someone takes the briefcase, I can't waste time untangling cords that snaked around me."
