Description

The aim of this project is quite straightforward and the idea is revolutionary. As the project name indicates, "Project Unmute" will aid speech impaired people to express their thoughts in most natural way possible. Suffering from muteness can have dismissive social effects, especially among young population. Table 1, in images represents the speech impaired people in India(2011 census), we can infer that 37.2% of 1.2Million speech impaired people are students. The primary motive of this project is, speech impairment should not be a barrier in expressing one's thought. We know that sign language does help to an extent, but not everyone can understand sign language.
We need a solution which can effectively transform our brain signals into voice(using voice APIs). Electroencephalography (EEG) is an electrophysiological monitoring method to record electrical activity of the brain. Every single thought which comes to our brain create certain waveform, which can be recorded in EEG. The proposition here is, user has to undergo a training period, where our product is trained(record the brainwaves for corresponding words) with the words the user think. The product should be able to efficiently understand the user's brain and match that word with voice API. The product should be adaptive for further vocabulary building.
