Overview / Usage
This is a single build project. I want to make a build for my wife so she has access to all her games without compromise. She has had a difficult last few years. Seasonal allergies have made her hair fall out, she has lost both of her parents, and her struggles with anxiety and depression have been more difficult as she reaches the higher level classes of her degree. While we are both students working on challenging degrees we don't have the means to provide her with a PC for her to play games on. This is my private project behind her back to fix that.
This PC isn't focused on an elaborate design or extravagant display, but it is intended to be a simple, heartfelt, and personal symbol of love and care. It is meant to seem unassuming to the untrained eye. It is meant to seem simple and homely. It is designed to be a perfectly simple part of my wife's complex and inconvenient life. It is meant to work, and be there for her. It is a symbol of serenity and peace. It is meant to bring peace to her anxiety. It is meant to bring love to her depression. It is meant to help her find stability and reliability at home when she needs relief from the labors of nursing.
Methodology / Approach
I want to give my wife something better than what I have to show her I love her. The Intel i9 12900k is one of the few CPU's that beats out mine, and I'd love to demonstrate my care and love for her by setting aside my own self-interest and supplying her with superior hardware. Ideally I'd have this done and ready for Valentine's Day and she could get her laptop repaired without worries of missing schoolwork, but the timing may not work out.
Other ways I want to show her I love her and personalize this PC just for her include (but are not limited to):
- Keeping this build a secret from her so she doesn't know it's coming.
- Navy blue accents on the white Silent Base 802 case (her favorite color)
- Removal of RGB fans from my PC so that she can have additional blue color inside of her team blue PC
- Overclock her RAM, CPU, and GPU so she can have increased performance.
With the PC I also plan on applying my mechanical engineering and woodworking knowledge to make a desk for her with the following features:
- Increased desk space (corner desk designed to fit in our living room)
- Drawers
- Collapsibility for moving out of our apartment in the future
- Ideal height for her
- Space for her PC and her laptop stand
These features and the desk are meant to provide the stability and reliability, on top of the simplicity, for this build to create a small private space of peace for my wife.
