I like to cook, and I have a small herb garden. I'm notoriously bad at remembering to water them, so I built this.

I like to cook, and I have a small herb garden. I'm notoriously bad at remembering to water them, so I built this.

This personal project was made over a weekend in early September. It's not really IOT (no WiFi), and not Intel (Arduino). Seeing how things went cough, I'd say it's more a proof of concept. It's very basic, essentially just monitoring moisture and showing raw sensor values on an OLED screen.

That said, the device lasted less than a week. The custom mainboard is still working, but I chose poorly when it came to the resistive sensors used for monitoring soil moisture. The probes corroded to the point where there wasn't even any metal left on them. Oops!

Back to the drawing board. :)

My apologies for the double post (still learning how Dev Mesh should be used).
