Overview / Usage

The book covers the MQTT protocol version 3.1.1 and its usage with the latest version of the Eclipse Paho Python client in modern Python 3.6.x. The book provides examples of different kinds of IoT applications that exchange MQTT messages. The examples were tested on Up2 (Up Squared) boards based on Intel® platforms, among other IoT boards.

Methodology / Approach

I've written code to control a vehicle with Python and MQTT messages. Then, I've tested and improved the vehicle control solution. Finally, I've written code to monitor a surfing competition with cloud-based real-time MQTT providers and Python. I've worked in my IoT lab with Up2 (Up squared) boards. I wanted to make sure readers will be able to run the code on Intel® platforms. I've also tested the code on other popular IoT boards.
