Overview / Usage
The site is a major tourist spot with a high footfall which is well accessible and connected by major tourist attractions( like Connaught Place, Birla Mandir, Jantar Mantar etc.), New delhi railway station(3.3km away) and a hundreds of hotels in PaharGanj and Karol Bagh area. A guaranteed Centre of information in the Heart of Delhi. Being right adjacent to RK Ashram Marg Metro station and very close to the main road which is connecting it to Connaught Place, it is a more strategic location from the tourists’ point of view. The location also acts as a Hop on- Hop off spot for travelling services like Delhi Darshan or any other city sightseeing. Also Known for its concentration of affordable hotels, lodges, restaurants, dhabas and a wide variety of shops catering to both domestic travellers and foreign tourists, especially backpackers and low-budget travellers, it has become particularly popular as a haunt for international cuisine.
Methodology / Approach
The concept is based on Futurist architecture which focuses on curves, infinite shapes, and waves and to bring a new approach to design by changing the static environment. It embraces technological advances. It seeks to bring nature into design by utilising elements like glass walls that close the gap between a structure and its environment.
In form, the building combines simplicity and efficiency of structure with a distinctive visual impact with the use of concrete, glass and steel which are locally available materials. The curvilinear plan has evolved from analysis of principal pedestrian flows across the site, while the orientation and profile establish an intriguing design and opens out to welcome people approaching it.
