Overview / Usage
The Dead Sea Scrolls are ~25,000 fragments of ancient scrolls (over 2000 years old, from the Roman Period) found in Israel, around the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert. The fragments belong to around 900 scrolls which were degraded and torn to pieces during the past millennia. Since most of the scrolls were made of parchment (i.e. animal skin), we at Tel Aviv University, are trying to piece some of them together based on their DNA content.
This project is awaiting publication, therefore more details are under embargo, but will be provided as soon as possible.
