One would be surprised to know that the toiletry based diseases play a major role in world hygiene. Many a times, it has even been fatal. One side there are no toilets and people are still using open spaces. Another side, there are toilets, but, they lack maintenance. We have a system in place. ...learn more

Overview / Usage
To build a system to monitor the quality of lavatories, real-time, with data being stored, while collecting the feedback from the user, on the go. Based on the analysis, the concerned person is to be alerted to take the necessary action. The system is to be a generalised system which could be implemented anywhere.
Methodology / Approach
The technical flow is explained below:
The data from the gas sensor (MQ-05) can be used to collect the Methane level present in the Lavatory. If the methane level is higher for a period of time, then it means that, the toilet is not clean, and an alarm is sent to notify the concerned team that Lavatory needs to be cleaned. Microcontroller and the sensors are the major components in this approach.
The sensors implanted in the lavatory shall be sending data to the microcontroller. From the microcontroller, the data goes to the cloud . The cloud that we used is an open source cloud called “Adafruit”. The data is processed in the cloud and based on the analysis, the concerned department or the personnel get an update about the lavatory status. They shall proceed with the cleaning process or initiate necessary action. The cloud we have used is a non-paid version. If the feed from the toilets are going to be at a higher rate, then, paid version of cloud subscription is preferred.
Every user is supposed to give feedback about the lavatory quality. To get the feedback from the passengers about the Lavatory, we place two IR Sensors, one for positive and other for negative feedback. Together, this gets the best prediction possible about the lavatory cleanliness. All these data are recorded in the cloud and can be used for forecast and analysis if need be.
Precisely conveying, sensor collects the data, the processing happens in the microcontroller and data is stored in the cloud for the future prediction or reference.
