Overview / Usage
This application is designed to collect trouble codes logged on the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) of the automobile, give the description of the codes in a readable format and also translate codes to the local Yoruba Language.
An Android app was developed to communicate with the ECU (Engine Control Unit) for automobile diagnosis via the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) standard. The ODB-II trouble codes (DTCs) collected from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) is presented to local automobile mechanics in Yoruba and English language readable format.
Local Automobile mechanics or technician encounter difficulties interpreting ECU error codes in complex English language terminologies. The localised Yoruba language standard OBD-II codes solve the problem of word ambiguity when interpreting ECU error codes.
The android application is been developed to enable machine learning through multithreading, UX design, data mining and expert system to address language and technical issues encountered by local automobile mechanics with little or no English language skills.
