Los Rios CODEATHON 2019

ACM Student Chapter of Los Rios Community College District organized a very successful Codeathon 2019 at Sacramento City College campus on April 6th, with the support of ACM Sacramento Chapter computing professional members, inviting students from Sacramento City College, Consumnes River College, American River College and Folsom Lake College.

With a total registered number of 70 participants, the day-long Codeathon was organized into 8 teams all working on the problem set to find parking spots in a parking garage. Appropriate tools and dev workstations along with access to the Maker Space and Arduino gear was provided by the college campus and a few mini-workshops, exposing the participants to Intel OpenVINO and Intel Movidius along with Intel Reference Implementations organized by Dr Harsh Verma, Intel Innovator and VP, Global Innovation at R Systems..

At the end of the day, students demonstrated very innovative projects to a panel of judges consisting of Prof Abida Mukarram and Prof Jim Town from Sacramento City College and Dr Harsh Verma. A number of prizes were awarded including Best Solution Awards, Cleanest Code and Best Architecture as well as Best Documentation Awards.
