How to use video for better communication
Users
1- Reduce the camera movement and try to keep it still as possible.
2- Reduce your movement and the background activity, having a near wall background would eliminate unintended shots, and will enhance the video quality.
3- Don’t overuse the camera resolution! neither you nor your video participant can watch a video larger than the displaying screen resolution, video feeds larger than your screen resolution will just be downscaled, resulting in delays, and more bandwidth consumption.
4- Use your most powerful device, most likely your computer is faster than your mobile phone.
5- If you have more than one internet connection, use your fastest and most stable connection upon the video session time. One network might perform better than another at a given time. Network performance might vary, depending on the current load.
6- Use the most updated version of your video communication software, it is supposed to be using better video compression, keeping video session light as possible, and saving your internet bandwidth.
7- Make a test call before you begin your video event, and verify the best conditions are set early enough.
8- Become an advanced user, or ask for assistance! Trying to set your software to use aggressive video compression (CODEC), preference order: H.265/HEVC, H.264/MPEG-4 (10), H.263/MPEG- 4(2).
9- Become a better listener! Try to maintain a “one-way at a time” communication model.
10- Justify your presentation skills! Slow down your presentation rotation and your demonstration moves,
11- Use remote assessment and productivity management tools. Some things needs not to be video streamed, in practice, some activities cannot be performed using video communication.
• How could an e-learning Instructor monitor every student activity in a virtual classroom?
• How could a business team manager calculate the working hours of each remote member?
Remote Productivity Management systems can do this perfectly, ex. Photon Computing Remote Attendance and Discipline Management RADM, or any similar tool. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6648635374027452416

Video communication technology and solution providers
Reducing the bandwidth consumption of your video platform, doesn’t only help reducing the global traffic, it also helps your system to perform better.
Consider this sudden demand increase for video communication, you are serving more and more customers and users, you will need to expand your infrastructure, but you might be unable to locate and install enough hardware to cover that.
1- Assure the highest possible compression on your client app, based on user’s platform.
2- Use hardware video coding exclusively when available.
3- Force reducing unnecessary frame sizes, you know you can’t render videos larger than the client’s display device resolution.
4- Implement activity sensitive functionality in your video client apps. Reduce unnecessary frame rate and size for inactive/listening/thumb participant streams in the video session.
5- Update your media servers implementation/settings, perform proxy operation and Transcode video CODECS, and size more aggressively, adopt accelerated high performance video processing implementations. Photon Computing technologies especially the HPC grade Video Processing as well as and many other vendors can help.
6- Incorporate and implement remote assessment and productivity management tools such as Photon Computing Remote Attendance and Discipline Management RADM, create innovative use-case solutions, relying on data transfer rather than non-useful video streams.
7- Add video performance assessment indicators and advising tools to your client apps, help users set best conditions for their video sessions. Ex. on screen warnings and advisory for camera motion, background activity, lighting condition, camera distance and position,
8- Implement additional dynamic/adaptive streaming video clients and servers, user’s experience of adaptive streams, must be better than a broken stream experience.
