Overview / Usage

Imagine Earth is a game that simulates a whole planetary system on marco level. This includes a very basic simulation of temperature, pollution, fertility and environmental catastrophies. Also territorial logic, path finding, AI factions building cities on the planet.

A problem that had to be solved was to make this work on systems that don't come with a costly dedicated graphics unit, most importantly older lightweight laptops.

Methodology / Approach

So far we have used the in Unity integrated tools to measure performance on hardware like an Intel NUC and processor like an i7 3000. Would be good to have a technology that mimics the behaviour of different slower hardware setups to see how it works and what needs to be optimized.
